The 50-135 is a great lens. I'd say well designed for portraits in natural light.
I got mine for use in floodlit sports where sometimes the telephoto end is not long enough at 135 mm so heavy cropping becomes the way
So its a great lens if you need that focal range.
I wonder what others will say or where they find it to be an invaluable lens.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I think it's one of Pentax's finest lenses and I'll not part with mine.
If you can get one for a good price, buy it, you'll not be disappointed, guaranteed.
If you don't need the speed of an f2.8 lens, consider the DA* 60-250mm f4 option, it's a cracker and every bit as good IQ as the 50-135mm but with extra reach at the expense of low light performance.

Only another GBP230 or so to reduce it to the NY price (GBP535) at B&H. I raise this again as were we in Europe the only market to see the jump in prices for photographic equipment?
As for the lens, I did buy mine in the UK from RGB as they were shedding stock and it was GBP489 with full UK warranty. Other than that it is excellent and also works very well with the 1.7AF TC.

Not quite ...
Based on the current x-rate (had to transfer $800 earlier) it is around £550 but sales tax will be added to that so nearer £600.
Still a £165 saving though.
