Tele Converter

Fairly new to Digital so please bear with me , I have just purchased a K100D with the Std Kit lens and also managed to aquire a Pentax 50mm 1.7.
Picked up a fairly cheap Tamron 2x converter yesterday (knew it wasn"t a KA type ) but expected some compatability with my camera.
Cant get any comunication when its fitted , just F flashing in the viewfinder .
Is this a setting problem ? and if so can anyone talk me through it or have I made the wrong purchase .

See "Using aperture ring" on page 107.

The reason tyou can't get any communication with the camera is that is isn't any unless the converter has electrical contacts, as in the KA mount.

Check out what george has pointed out and enable use of aperture ring and you will then be able to use the converter.

Cheap converters don't give exciting results though.

When I said it was a fairly cheap converter I meant relative to cost , it may be cheaply made as well I dont know.
Its a Tamron 7 element version .

7 element converters are much better than 4 element ones, but you might still get pretty average results, especially from zoom lenses.

I thought that might be the case but couldn"t resist the purchase
