started to use this lens today veiwfinder dark at f 2.5 taken photos of a few plants on our balcony 2200 asa can only get f4 or the shutter speed is to slow also set -1.5 have i got a duff lens/mount seens to take beter pic.s in spot mode advice please

just had the mount wide open at 2.5 veiwfinder lovely and bright moved it to 32 ae blades shut veiwfinder dark blades dont seam to move when photo taken is this a mount fault

Viewfinder should be bright at f2.5. Sounds like the iris is closed right down.

Are you using a PKA mount? Is lens set to the 'AE' position?

What happens if you set it to f2.5 on the aperture ring?

The iris should close down at the AE setting when the lens isn't mounted, but when mounted to the camera, a little lever on the lens mount will open the iris up and will keep it open until the shutter fires. Or should do!

the lever is not keeping the iris open?

I think it ought to... when you press on it with your finger you should see the lens open up.

just taken of the lens and it will open with my finger
but not when on the camera?

sorted the leaver was very close to the metal guard thing moved it over a bit to give it more of a cap so works ok now thanks for your help
