There are a few threads on the Pentax DPReview forums and elsewhere.

Image quality is not brilliant, but it is better than any other superzoom by far from what I've seen.

Quite an attractive lens for snapshots and walking about.

If they've managed to improve image quality over the other superzooms while simultaneously stretching the reach like that, that's very well done to Tamron.

Obviously a set of good quality primes or short zooms is going to be better image quality wise, but sometimes you want a jack of all trades lens for family holiday snapshots and the like, and sometimes you just don't want to be carrying a full on camera bag.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Which is why there are some half camera bags which are rather nice. Amazingly expensive but they are completely watertight and float.

Thought it would be best to keep my K10 and equipment as protected as possible, especially when crossing streams/rivers or in the pouring rain.

From my current use with my K10 I'd be rather happy with a fast ~20mm, a fast ~50mm and a moderately fast ~200mm and no zooms. But that kit costs more than my current zooms...

I like the look of the 18-250 and it would be interesting to compare it to the kit lens and the 50-200.

is that a bag for carrying one of these?

if so I can see why it would need to be watertight!

No, I'm sure I don't need to explain though...

Wonderful for working outdoors and it really works well. I got soaking wet in a heavy shower but all my equipment was nice and dry.

Was going to get a bag with an all weather cover but that wouldn't have allowed me to carry a hydration pack. Imagine that bursting or leaking doesn't bear thinking about...

Anyway, back on topic:

I had found a subjective review of the 18-250 in Canon mount while surfing on my PDA but I cleared the browser history so am having to search for it again and can't find it...
