A very impressive lens indeed.

That looks like a cracking lens. Have Tamron abandoned Pentax then? I would have thought that due to the lack of alternatives, it would be a bigger than usual market

Tamron abandoned Pentax years ago, there are all sorts of conspiracy theories about Sony owning a percentage of Tamron and dictating who they make lenses for .. but no one really knows for sure.

I am going to swap my Canon mount Sigma 50-500mm for the Tamron some time soon, it's getting some great reviews.

You never know it may come out rebranded as Pentax minus the optical stabiliser and a whole lot more dosh. It has been known to happen in the past.

I asked why at the Photography Show and the guy explained that it is to do with licensing of the mount.

That is a strange one, as in the past there was no issue. Maybe it is Ricoh playing hardball, maybe Tamron see the share that Pentax have is very small, maybe it the the Sony influence. Possibly all of them?
Mind you the 18-270 is a Tamron in all but name, so in effect there is no real animosity between them

Who knows we may even see this lens badged as a Pentax with Pentax coatings and add 1/3 to the price.

Oh if only we could have the delightful Tamron 60mm F2 macro on Pentax mount. But I just keep saying that.....

Looks like Pentax 1.7 converter on the 300 will have to do!
C&C welcome.

It doesn't get a very good review from Amateur Photographer, needs to be stopped down to F10 just to get reasonable results above 400mm so not really a wildlife/sports lens.
Doesn't really matter to us because not in Pentax fit as mentioned previously.
