Not rare, as common as muck as they say, but I do like the smc m 28/2.8

Me too, I have the Chinon 28mm f/2.8 and is as sharp as a razor - good for close up work as well

I have the SMC A version, also an excellent lens.

chinon cameras and glass are very underated, in the early 1980s my mate Joe Corrigan used Chinon alot, his favourite was the CE5

I have the A28 f2.8 ... does anyone know if the optics are the same as the older one?

The optics in the A version are the same as those in the M mark II, which is not the one shown at the start of this thread. The optics in the original M version are not as good.

The lack of the silver decor ring on the focus ring is the give away plus the serial no is on the body of the lens Comment Image
