Hmm, hopefully mine was a terrible copy, but despite reading some good things about it, I found this TC to be pretty ordinary In informal brick wall tests I found it to be not as sharp as a Tamron F-system 2x TC, nor as sharp as a Kenko 2x macro focussing TC. It does have the A contacts though (but so does the Kenko).

This is Pentax's low cost converter - four elements I think.

I'd be surprised if it's any good with the A*300. The 1.7x works
with that lens, but they cost about £240

I managed a few shots later this afternoon and initial findings look promising, there is obviously a difference when comparing a shot with the t/c at 100% against one without at 200%, having said that the light was very changeable and keeping the shutter to 1/2000 to avoid shake left me with a shot with the t/c at ISO1600 and one without at ISO280 (using TAv lens wide open) running the high ISO shot through neat image before comparing them doesn't help much either
Weather looks better for tommorrow so I may get to camp in a hide with this combo and get to see how it resolves feather detail.
