Surprised

I'm surprised nobody, especially within the Pentax organisation, has mentioned the results shown on Monday nights "Gadget Show" on 5 TV where the Pentax Optoi W?? could not be destroyed after being towed in the sea along side a speedboat, dropped 80 feet from a helicopter and "blown up" by a tank round. After all this it still functioned!

They must have been taking their ideas from Top Gear and the pick up truck!

Not just any pick-up truck. A Hilux...
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

Saw the programme, and they were indeed severe test's for any gear. Testament to Pentax toughness, was considering getting the W90 as a carry everywhere compact. Anyone used one?

OK so it is indestructible but does it take good pictures??? At nearly twice the price of other Optio 90s it needs to.

Really Gwyn? I think the extra hundred quid or so is well worth it for a proper underwater camera. I can't see what differentiates the cheaper optios from other cheap and cheerful digicams, but the w90 seems genuinely useful.

Not deeper than 6m I hope!

I have the older W60 and that has certainly demonstrated how useful the waterproof capability is. Last spring I used it for some large salmon - but my hands were covered in gooey, smelly "slime" and it gets all over the camera. Attach it to my waders and drag it through a flowing river soon washes it all off.
