Sunset Rose Shot

A lovely shot, great light, and a perfect rose too. Is it a rose plant or from a bunch of flowers? Only all the roses I've seen lately are finishing flowering.
Back to the photo - I really like it. The only critism I have is the foliage in the background bottom right. I wonder whether the shot would be improved with a completely dark background? Just a thought.

Real rose from my garden. Here in the US roses are going strong.
I'll have to play with removing the leaves.

I would go with a tighter crop and lose the black at the bottom.
Nice and tight so that the green leaf goes as well. Then you are left with that lovely red.
The black, to me, spoils you shot as it does nothing for it

Beautiful composition from the rose and superb from the photographer, I feel your composition with the leaves intact adds a certain quality to your image.

Actually agree with Rees, the top shot looks better with the green. I was referring to the 2nd altered shot. There is to much black in that. The 1st image looks much better.Beautiful composition from the rose and superb from the photographer, I feel your composition with the leaves intact adds a certain quality to your image.

I think the first shot, but with the bottom crop just underneath the green leaf. To my eyes that looks much better.
Otherwise, excellent shot, nice and simple and plenty of impact.

Thank you.
I'm contemplating a few rose shots for the fall contest here.
