Sunpak auto thyristor 24SR on Program A and K10D?

Cant find much info on this flash...
What I'd really like to do is to be able to shoot it off the camera. Can I do this with a TTL cable on the K10D?

The flash has 2 A modes and 1 M mode.
If I could make it shoot in an automated mode so as to work in accordance to what the settings on the camera that would be super, but the main thing is really to just make it flash. I almost always specify the power on the in-camera flash of the K10D, so I'm not worried with wasting time.
I also dont do much flash photography, and I'm mainly interested in using it for macro work, hence the use of a cable.
Another question is would this work with a Program A? I'm borrowing it from my father, I cant rest still seeing that 50mm F1.4 decaing in the bag

You could use any of the Pentax flash cables and adapters(4p or 5p), or a pc cable. If the latter, you will also need a hotshoe adapter with a pc socket, and something similar for the flash gun if it lacks a pc socket.

Simpler by far would be to buy a slave trigger off Ebay, and trigger the flash with the RTF (the built-in flash).

I prefer to use Pentax AF500-FTZ guns which have a slave sensor built in. If you are patient, you'll find these on Ebay for a reasonable price.

Your flash will work with any Pentax camera in Manual mode.

Leave the Program-A with your father, and just borrow the lens. It's presumably the A version, and will work fine on the K10D.

The flash has a small cable which I think is the pc cable (you can see pics in the classifieds section).
I know I can get a optical slave trigger for a fiver but I'd rather not have to use the RTF.

Can I mount the flash in the hot-shoe of a k10d?

Yeah, I really dont fancy the program A that much, I'd rather have an MX. But since this is only to take a few steps back into film, and the MX is "pricy" (ie pricier than what I wish)... and I want to give the camera back to my father in a better state than what I found it in...
Unfortunately the camera and sadly the lens are deaing... More on that later.

The pc cord option will be much more affordable than the Pentax cables.

The K10/20D bodies do not support TTL flash modes. You'll be able to use your flash's A and M modes though.

I'm not sure that the OP meant to use TTL. He was asking, I think, if he could use a TTL cable as trigger.

I've looked a bit at flashes, and from what I gather they can only talk to with the camera if they are P-TTL.
I dont use them that much, and money being short I'd rather spend it on lenses (otherwise I'd go with a Metz 4.

I dont mind just using the manual mode.
What is the easiest way for me to be able t use the K10D on any mode (P,Tv,Av,M, etc) and still fire the flash.
This flash doe shave a pc sync cord. So would a hot shoe adpater be sufficient?
I'd like to be able to shoot it a bit farther from the camera so could a P-TTL cable be used to fire the flash?
Theres is also the possibility of radio triggers that you connect to the hot shoe and another to the flash if those work with the flash, then better, no wires...
If the 24sr is like the 30SR it might be safe voltage on the camera's hot-shoe, but I'm not gonna test that out on my K10D. Would I have any voltage concern if I use one of these methods instead?

All flash cables will trigger any flashgun in manual mode, whether the camera is designed for P-TTL or not.

PC cables can be used on any camera with a PC-hotshoe adapter.

The cheapest route is an Ebay flash sensor, triggered by on-camera flash. Next is PC.

Radio triggers can be expensive. If cheap, they can be very unreliable.

Most expensive is Pentax's 4p or 5p systems.

In your case, as you don't want to use the on-board flash as a trigger, use PC-cables and a PC-hotshoe adapter.
