Metz 45 CT- 5 flash

I have just been given this metz kit + adapters and was wondering what adapter I need to use it on my K20, is it worth persisting with or should I just sell it off. Does the pentax adapter allow it to be used in PTTL ??
Its been well used but appears to be in full working order. I also need a user manual for it, if anyone is forthcoming. cheers

P-TTL won't be possible with anything but the very latest Metz guns.
That said, the Metz guns give a lovely light, are built like a tank, and work well with the Pentax dSLRs in "A" or "M" mode.

As you have the SCA300 (IIRC that's the "dumb" module") you can use this just fine. Set camera to either "M" or "A" and set flash to "A". Fix the ISO rating, and set corresponding aperture. Make sure shutter speed is slower than 1/180s and fire away!

With the Pentax SCA adapter you'll get a degree of dedication - the flash should track ISO and aperture. Also, the camera will know the flash is connected and will limit the shutter speed

The latest is SCA3702. However, that's probably not the right one for the 45 series. You should be able to pick up an older Pentax SCA adapter for less than £20. (Metz say the SC300 series is analog, whereas SCA3000 is digital - http://www.metz.de/en/photo-electronics/faq.html#c2135 )

I have the 50MZ5 - it's a fine flashgun. Has more "beef" than the AF540 even (not sure why given the guide numbers).

The 45CT5 is worth around £60 here in the UK (from Ffordes, which can be expensive!).

The Metz 45CT5 and the Metz 60CT2 ran on a the SCA500 system, which is different to the SCA300 system, used other most other old Metz Hammerhead Flashguns. The SCA500C lead will interface to a SCA372 or SCA374/2AF Module for Pentax Cameras. However the SCA500C will not connect to the later SCA3702 Module.

As Matt says, you are limited to the Metz Auto C settings or Manual.

I had the 45CT5 and used it with TTL on the Pentax SFXn and SF7 for a number of years. I traded against a 60CT2 which uses the same SCA system.
