My vote goes for Fountains Abbey/Studley Royal
and Cragside.
Both are brilliant venues.

I'm up for that Jack...
...but the wife says no!!!
She suggests the weekend 31st Oct/1st Nov in Newcastle.
That's when the Marie Currie zip wire will be up from the Tyne bridge to HMS Caliope. The event's on the Sunday and my daughter (User name Honesty on here) is doing it!

The Goth weekend, I had not noticed that one. Having looked as past images that have been posted it looks like a great portrait opportunity.
I have to fly the flag a bit for the zip wire event, it's just down the road from me. The quayside has a lot to offer; Tyne Bridges, The Sage Gateshead, Baltic Flour Mill art gallery.
Fountains Abbey is having a floodlit evening on the 31st of October, however that starts at 9pm.
If I am honest the Goth weekend has my vote at the moment, although those wishing to find accommodation may struggle.

I've looked. There is almost nothing available for the Saturday night. However there are a lot of rooms in Scarborough which isn't a long drive.
I think an overnight could be fun. Start at noon on the Saturday and go through to noon on the Sunday. With 8 hours sleeping, 2 hours driving and 10 in the pub it gives a solid 4 hours for photography!

Well it looks like the Goth event is the most popular, so I thought you had better do some research with the Goth stereotype guide
