Check out the Interfit range for decent quality at a great price. The ex150 twin head kit starts at under £200 with someone like WEX Photographic.
I have had mine for about 5 years and I use them regularly with my photo booth .... my next paying jobis on Saturday in fact.

I purchased mine off amazon i went for the BPS studio flash heads 600 watts a bit powerful but i had a good deal

I've had 5 years plus out of 3 units from link delight, they look exactly the same as the Godex units, for 3 years they got used at least monthly, but recently prob once a quarter as got more into natural light and low light images.
No hesitation in recommending them, treat them with care and they are very good for the money.
I still use them, but not quite as often at the mo.

Not new but far far superior to all the cheap Chinese imports and on a par or better than equivalent Bowens etc, not a bad price for a good sized kit and pretty close to you too.
I have a set of Compactlite 300's, they have never let me down.

I've bought Lencarta. Cheaper than Bowens or Elinchrom, but similar quality and unlike ebay specials they have genuine CE standard markings on them.
It is really worth paying for the step up in quality. You can take for granted a consistent white balance, and output. With the ability to turn the power right down, which is often a problem with cheaper lights.
I do have some Interfits. Plan to use them on backgrounds

@Blythman. After doing some research, decided to go with your suggestion and am going to get the Lencarta Smartflash 2 X 2. I spoke to Garry there and given the small size of the room I'll be using, he reckons that they will be plenty powerful to do the job. I'll let you know how I get on with them once I'm up and running. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Although all mine are Bowens I've always thought that Calumets own brand ones look very good. As Pyhton118 says 600w is a lot of power. For Portraits I have my 500s dialled down to between half and quarter power and portraits are usually shot at f10 or thereabouts. I did once buy a set of cheap small Chinese ones which weren't very well made and had a noticeable colour change as they warmed up. Only really noticeable on a big shoot with a white background in lightbox view so no big deal really. If you are lugging them around on location as I do then you really do need the robustness of Bowens or similar but for occasional hobby use probably not.

Would love to have been able to afford Bowens or similar, but unfortunately my Disability pension doesn't run to those top end makes. They are only going to be used for me to do some still life stuff as a hobby to keep me from under the bosses feet anyway, so by the time I've also bought a flash meter, stands, reflector, softbox, wall mounted boom arm to save space etc, etc. Got to go now quickly, before she sees this and goes dolally.lol.

Lol! I honestly wouldn't bother with a flash meter, I have rarely used either of mine since going digital

Not quite. It will only "increase" the power by 1.41. To "double the power", you need to go to ISO 400.

I'm not sure what you mean by 200/100 = 2 stops Algi. The difference between ISO 100 and 200 is 1 stop.
