Buying a flash

I have a K30, with which I am very happy. I am now looking at buying a flash for it. With my previous system (Canon F1n and T90), I bought Canon flashes; I'm looking at the Pentax AF540 FGZ II, or the Metz 58 for my K30. Any recommendations/opinions?

Thanks in advance!

I have the previous Pentax 540 model and I love it! Having checked the specs for the mk11 version you should note that it has lost the red 'auto-flash' sensor on the front, replaced with a continuous modeling light or video light, which doubles as a secondary fill reflector ... Those are so positive of course, but you lose the option of auto-flash mode for older lenses ( manual focus basically) .... So you're limited to manual more with these.

The Metz retains the auto sensor. It depends how you like to use flash and what lenses you'd use. But the mk11 offers an improved P-TTL 11 system ... Just check that the k30 I'd comparable, that may have only been introduced with the k50 / k3 ?

Thanks for the help. According to the manual, the K30 is compatible, and I don't have any manual Pentax lenses (as yet anyway!), so that is now the "front runner"

Thanks chaps. I had a chat with the lads at SRS, and I've ordered the Metz. I'm grateful for your views, but I concluded that I'm not likely to need the weather sealing on the flash, so the Metz made more (financial) sense!
