Strap mounts

Hi,
Does anyone know of a quick disconnect or something like the old style rings that can be added to any strap for the newer digital slr's?
I've seen some built into a strap, but the disconnect was midway up. I have nothing against straps, but I don't always like them on and these new ones seem to take a long time to remove.
It's for a K200.
Thanks

I use Optech straps that disconnect the bulky , padded part of the strap from the two ends halfway down - not really what you are looking for but I find them very good and often have just the two ends and not the middle part for the reasons you mention.

Thanks for the reply,
Approximately how long are the ends that are left after you remove the center section?
The camera goes from being around my neck, to a bellows, to a tripod and such, so straps get in the way. Also, I'm always fearful of catching it and dragging the camera off a table or counter by accident.

As I have mine set up, each end is 375mm but you can virtually halve that amount by adjustment.

When using either of my cameras on a tripod (for macro work etc.) I normally disconnect the ends from each other or from the centre part so you just have an end hanging off each side of the camera, rather than a loop that can be annoying and get tangled around things.

Half that doesn't sound too bad. I'll keep the Optech in mind.

I appreciate the input.
Thanks

The lowepro voyager C is what I use, It has quick releases which leave about 4 inches of strap left on the body when its removed. A very comfortable strap, I have 2, one on my K20 and one on my DS.

Clarky - does the silly looking bag thing come off the strap? And how good is the non slip material?

Thanks

Yes Mike the card bag does come off, I have never used it.

Its made of neoprene and very good quality as you would expect from Lowepro. Thoroughly recommended

I made the mistake of getting a cheap strap and it has no non slip properties and is way too long even when shortened but otherwise a good copy of the Optech. I dislike the big red Pentax on the strap supplied with the camera.

I got it more for its comfort around the neck, I have never really taken any noticed of its slip and non slip characteristics. I generally have it sitting directly on my neck (not over a collar)and I don't notice any undue slipping.

As for its length, I have it adjusted as tight as it will go and the camera sits just above my bellybutton. Hope that helps

I usually carry my camera over a shoulder so that non slip is called for, the length sounds OK. The one I got was daft, at full length I could do myself a mischief with any sudden movements

This talk about different ways of having an alternative to a conventional strap that comes with the camera sounds pretty interesting, but I haven't got a clue what exactly is. Can someone just post a link or an image please? I am pretty interested in something that could replace or be used in a different way rather than the normal strap. Also hate the weight that it puts directly on my neck, but I thought I just had to suck up and live with it.

So something to improve that sounds pretty interesting. A link please? or image? And where to shop for it?

Thank you

Clarky gave a link just above my first post. These are just straight replacement straps you can get some real slinky ones. Try this and then look at all his other products or wander off to teh Optech web site.

Handy link but if you're not happy with Optech or Lowepro then you must be pretty picky.

Then again take a look at

link

and I know there's some system that offers a quick draw facility which I never understood.
