I had my camera stolen the other day, and am pretty intent of doing what I can to - if not not get it back, then make it is difficult as possible for the thief to sell (which I suppose he will be doing - see, I "know" who the guy is). You wouldn't believe the circus I have been through - I'll tell the full story soon... but you know "Killing Fields"? LOL

Researching the matter, I came upon this site www.stolencamerafinder.com and registered my camera and installed the Chrome extension. I believe we could all help each other if more do so.

And finally, if you see a k7 and/or a fa 43mm for sale without the box and stuff, please let me know. Serial of the the k7 is 3428965 I don't have access to the 43mm serial where I am now.

Thanks

Bad news, Joel, I hope you get the camera and lens back. Surely if you know who nicked it, it should be relatively easy?

Joe - That guy is a total low-life.

One way or another he'll get his come-uppance.

Here's hoping its sooner rather than later.

It was stolen by a Khmer (Cambodian) or Vietnamese from my guesthouse around Angkor Wat. I cannot prove he did it, but there is so much evidence pointing towards this guy. However, the police is of course doing nothing - and how would they ever prove anything now?

Also, this is Cambodia after all - consistently at the very bottom of the transparency index, people get away with anything if they pay the right people a few dollars. If somebody brought in the camera to the police I would still not expect to see it again - that's how much I trust these guys.

They, and the people from my guesthouse, have consistently ignored any information I had on the camera and on the guy. For instance the police insisted on having talked to a witness I had - now, I happened to talk to this guy just when he left town on the bus and he never saw any sign of the police. When I told this to the police officer he just looked at me and mumbled something about having misunderstood who I was referring to. They clearly hoped for me just to file a complaint with my insurance company and then keep quiet. I am just not the "keeping quiet" kind of person LOL

The plot thickens! I am now back in Denmark, and telling my mother about the the incident she explains that she recently saw a documentary on the Cambodian police. Apparently, they routinely do what they did to me: refuse to investigate the theft and instead spend all their energy proving it is a case of insurance fraught. More to come on this ...

Anyway. The serial number of my stolen black, Pentax FA 43mm is #0028350 according to the receipt.
