The only thing you can do with this sort of thing is throw the background completely out of focus with a wide aperture, and underexpose so as not to lose the highlights, and then pull the underexposed shadow up.
I mean, you could mess about in PS, but it probably isnt worth it.

I think, with the angle of the sun there I'd have also moved slightly to the right, so the camera isn't aimed directly at the sun.(Well, I probably would have done that, or else I'd have realised when I got home that that's what I should have done..as usual! )
