St Abbs, I make a trip every New Years day to this amazing place. Great Pictures Edumad, I prefer the composition of the second one although the immediate foreground could be a bit brighter for me. Not sure about the composition of the first image, but can't quite put my finger on what it is.

Nice, esp. #2. I wonder how it looks in colour?
Kind regards,

I like the B&W much more, good decision you did that.

Hmmm, I prefer the coloured version for #1. Maybe tweak the sky a bit, but apart from that, I love the colours.

I have found that Lidy has impeccable taste, which is why I often agree with her.

Frankly, the B&W version of number one is just a bit dull, both tonally and in terms of content and composition. The colour version is not going to win a huge number of prizes, but it is a bit more interesting.

The reverse is true for number two, where the B&W works fine, and the rather drab colours in the coloured version do not do the scene any favours.

In both shots, I think the light was not all it might have been. I also think both would look markedly better if they were bigger.

I much prefer number one in colour, although I would have paid less attention to the sky, only filling the top third. This would have really brought out those great contrasting tones of the rocks. The second image is still great in B&W although I agree with George on this one.

Did you manage to get any images of the light house and cliffs?

Thanks for the comments guys.

I was taken aback by the cone shape of that rock and found it an interesting subject. I did vertical and horizontal shots, but neither really had the punch I expected.
I did the B&W to try and emphasize the demarcation between sky and rock. It does dull down a bit doesn't it. At least with color it lightens up a bit.
A few more pics on my Flickr. Nothing good from the cliffs. Did try to snap some birds, but very few to be found... Almost risked my life on the cliff (see pic with bench).

BTW, saw a girl with a Pentax and SMC-F 70-210mm.

Well you have some smashing images on your flicker site, I particularly like the beach shots.

You all right, George? I'm getting a bit worried.

I agree, B&W look better, however colour versions are good too. And there were nice pictures on your flicker page too
