SR focal length selection with none "A" lenses

Following on from a comment bwichmawr made in "What’s your favorite focal length?" about not being able to select a focal length for SR.

Why does my K20 allow me to select the focal length, for SR, of a none "A" lens but my K200 won't. When switched on the K200 displays the SR symbol with a red line through it, in the rear screen.
I have to say I'm testing this with a none "A" teleconverter body. Can anyone confirm it with an actual lens and suggest a reason?

Can't you set the focal length in the menu maybe?

page 67 so RTFM

Barrie you lost me, you can set the focal length on the K200D
page 69 of the manual to be really precise.
here is the online manual, at page 71 there http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/product/k200dE.pdf

you try it with a none "A" lens and i think you will find it's not a option. Sorry Stephan did not have aperture ring permitted

Don't have a K200D so I can't try it out but the manual say it should work like it does with your K20D.

Did you see my edit about not having the Aperture ring permitted?

Yeah. I had been messing about with some extension tubes on the K20 so had Aperture ring permitted on it. However it did not click to do it on the K200. Anyway I think the same will apply to bwichmawr and his K100

Barrie, glad you solved it.
You might be right, the page of the manual looks almost precisely the same.
