Spots 'n stuff

I've got a hurricane blower but it doesn't seem to make any difference and as stated earlier "the blower puts bits into all kinds of wierd places" my viewfinder is heavily spotted too. I think I will try madame butterfly. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the dust out of the viewfinder?

Compressed air cans can be quite powerful and easily damaged delicate moving parts such as the mirror mechanism.

... there are instructions on the web as to how to use compressed air... keep the can upright and well away from the sensor and there's stillenough power to move dust.

With compressed air even when cleaning lenses fire off one shot
away from the lens first. The first shot often has some liquid in
it.

Avoid compressed air - it can contain residual oils. I would also avoid a vacuum cleaner as we have no way of knowing how much vacuum is safe.

An update for everyone I have blown and brushed, blown some more and brushed again and again, then blown again and again and finally come up with this. Taken at f22 of white paper (Thanks Pentaxian)

I'd follow John's advice. Several uses of the cameras own system first, followed by rocket blower. On the only occasion it was needed (and not with a Pentax) I found VisibleDust sensor swab very effective.

Someone needs to develop a dust catcher that sits near your sensor catching any stray particles that wander by, a bit like a piece of fly paper. Or a piece of statically charged something or other. Oh what a utopia that would be.

That just reminded me I bought one of these in a DIY store about 15 years ago and I was truly ASTONISHED!! I would even go so far as to say I was AMAZED!! you just touched dust on furniture with it and the dust shot off as though it was afraid. They are describing it as a magnet, but it repels not attracts. If I remember correctly Pentax cameras have them fitted!

Dont use the blower....just the butterfly!....the blower puts bits into all kinds of wierd places!
