Sponsorship

Hi all,

How do you go about getting sponsorship for a fledgling photographic club?

In the current ecconomic climate are there alternatives to hard cash that are worthwhile?

What can you offer in return? We have just started a email newsletter (for members only) and simply stating in there that we are sponsored by "......" seems a bit thin to me.

Does anyone else had similar problems/queries and how was it approached.

Could you get business's to buy space in the newsletter?

Almost impossible I would say. You have to have something definite in mind and give people a reason they would want to support you. No-one hands out cash for no good reason.

Not exactly sponsorship, but you could go for affiliate links in your newsletter. Fairly easy to set up. If you tell the membership that buying via a link will increase the club coffers they may be happy to do so.

But John is right about sponsorship. Companies (whatever they might say) don't do it out of goodness. They see it as advertising and want to know what they are going to get in return!

Thanks guys, I thought it was a long shot but it was a topic that had been discussed and before I stuck my neck out in front of a real company I thought I'd ask the question.

Snag as I see it the newsletter has a circulation of 20-30 so not much benefit there. As I guessed money would be out, but thought there might be other handouts in materials/locations etc - but couldn't see what.
