Great shot Clarky, but rather you this close to an Ozzy spider than me.
Dan

Not even close to Clarkys shot but I had to snap it quick, not seen one this big around the house for quite a while hence the 50p
He (or she) is still running around somewhere so I may get another chance tomorrow

They sure are. You would have your fair share of them in your neck of the woods i suspect
I've been trying to get nice shots of a couple of Orb Webs around the yard at the moment, but it's always too dark to get 'em by the time they start spinning
What lens did you use for the main mummy shot?

Tegenaria being the generic term for several species of the common house spider, I assumed this was the Gigantea as they are the largest and grow up to 18mm, they are of course completely harmless, though no doubt several readers will be horrified to learn that they can actually BITE .... but rarely do and it is supposed to be painless.
The House spider is very reliant on....houses, for survival, they are usually nocturnal (thats why you find them in dark cupboards waiting to get you
Mine has been a right pain in the proverbial, its seems to be all over the place and were now having to watch where we walk, I nearly put my foot on it earlier this evening, I think I may have to catch it and put it in the garage.

They are very good for keeping termites away if they are a problem in your area.
