I'am shooting a wedding in November and i need

1 portable power source for my strobe or
2 cheap mini battery operated strobe or
3 an set up for a off camera flash and soft box

my current flash's are as follows

metz 45 cl d hammerhead and a cannon speedlite 540ez

if i can use the two flashes together,
how?
the metz is set up for side of camera witch is ok because i can have a umbrella set up to reflect the flash if i wish as for the speedlite (canon) i don't mind using it as a manual flash.

if i can get the two flashes working in sync what wireless trigger will i need
i have one from ebay but how do i sync it up to the camera as their is on sync jack on the flash.

As a portable power source I recommend the Quantum QB2 Battery pack, you can power two 9v flashes fom it. link, you'll also need the appopriate custom module for your Metz.

On a full charge using TTL you'll get 1000 flashes at re-cycle times you previously only dreamed about. Not cheap but I wouldn't consider anything else now. They do come up on ebay but they are lead acid batteries and might not be in great condition.

You just need a cheap optical trigger for the second flash. Calumet do a range of bits and bobs which allow most hot shoe mounted flases to be attached to a lighting stand and brollies etc.

both flashes will work fine in manual or auto....

I'm at a loss on the need for a battery pak...
the battery pak will cost as much as a new flash, at leats... a new Pentax dedicated flash would make more sense...

more power has two drawbacks... cables and weight...

you really don't want to be blasting hundreds of full power pops at wedding anyways...

a little fill flash here, a few pops through a brollie there... swap batteries (rechargeable) in between the church and the park/the park and the ceremony...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Hi Ken. How are you getting on with the 510V Pentax power pack? Any joy yet? CHEERS Vic.
