Big problem!

The screen is polarised, the brightness is variable not only because of real time continuous changes but each display will be different. This means that what is picked up by different cameras under different light will be highly variable and the tone would definitely deviate largely from 18% gray and may not even be close to gray as the screen is not calibrated to white. The backlight is blue to boot so that will not be good.

They are very reflective and that again will change the perceived tone.

Colour and tonal accuracy on the screens is not going to be good, again each device will be a little different and cannot be calibrated.

Basically a nice idea but absolutely useless compared to a small piece of printed paper. Whoever wrote the application really doesn't have a clue about accuracy.

Well that's a bit pointless
As it's lit by the iPhone/iPod backlight and not by the ambient light I can't see what use that is at all!!

That's why I suggested for the 'geeks' only.

Definately in the nice idea, but totally useless category!

There are however some more useful Apps out there such as DoF calculators etc. etc.

The only one I've shelled out fo so far is PhotoCalc which has a DoF calc, flash exposure calc, exposure reciprocation clac, a reference guide and what is probably most helpful a solar calculator that is location aware.

Not bad for £1.79 and very handy!
