Some Recent Macros

As my return to posting photos on the forum, I thought I'd post some recent macros for c&c. I've commented on David's, so now feel ok to post my own! Even if I've done some of the things that David has!!

All have been taken with my K5 (probably) and my DFA 100mm macro.

I have also a question for the Mods. I have a macro setup which is a K5, butchered Pentax zoom, reversed Nikkor 50/2.8 EL, and Pentax flash. Is that too much non-Pentax to post here?

Sharp in all the right places, great use of DOF and angle, great lighting.

Great examples for anyone IMO

Good stuff indeed, I like the pose of the male scorpion fly and the damsel is lovely and crisp with a great background. It's always difficult to get the whole thing in focus and this is pretty good.

They are alright I suppose...

That shot of a scorpionfly is just the shot ive been after for 7 years and never managed despite many many attempts and the white legged damselfly is perfectly in focus. Great set!

Great set...well done. That scorpion fly (as if I know what i'm talking about!) is a right mean looking dude.

Forgot to mention...No8 (last one) is my favourite..great colours and sharpness.against a lovely OOF background.

Brilliant pictures but the heck is No.5? The scorpion fly? Looks like some genetic crossbreed between a locust, a scorpion, a spider and a pelican!

Yes, the male scorpion fly. The female isn't so pronounced! We have quite a lot of them here, so not difficult to find. This one was in the back garden.

I'm jealous - I guess the light must be better and the insects tamer in France.

Lovely series, it looks like you have your technique well sorted. 1,2,5 and 6 are the ones I like best.

All great stuff, and out of them No.2 is my favourite!

Ive never really ahd that much trouble finding them, its getting a shot that good I've not managed! (they can be flighty little buggers!)

If I ever get an answer to the question I have posed to the Mods........

Great stuff Neil, looks like you have not got very rusty since your last posts!

I've got a week off work next week, so hoping for some better light, it's been miserable here lately. It looks as though the light was decent for these, it makes all the difference.

It's difficult to choose a favourite, but 1, 5 and 6 stand out for me.

You'll get a much quicker answer with a PM! That's hardly non-Pentax, it's quite usual to use other makes of lens (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc. just to name a few) and quite usual to use enlarging lenses for close ups. There's no problem at all, but thanks for asking.
