Some PPG acceptances

I previously said I wouldn't post any more acceptances. What can I say, I lied - it's too much fun, and I like to share

I posted this one here recently:

This was one i took over the summer in Halesworth, Suffolk.

Another one from the summer, taken in a car park in Saffron Walden.

This one is from a display in the science museum. I was surprised this got accepted, I made a right mess of the dof. The vertical orientation also bugged me even though that is how it actually looked:

Here's the last image again, but rotated. I much prefer this orientation. Perhaps I should submit this as well :

Interestingly the time scales were drastically different on these 4 images. My previous acceptances all involved waits of several weeks. Out of these four the cottage was under review for about 3 weeks, the car about 2 weeks, the coloured layers took 5 days, and the engine was accepted only 3 days after submission. I don't know if that says anything about the popularity of the photo or if the review process is just getting faster.

Thanks for looking!

Enjoy the first and last but not sure about the cottage or the car. Agree the rotating of the last is better, it seems to have more depth.

Congratulations.

I really like the cottage one, Tim. There's something about it, but I can't explain what.

Well done again.
I think the time is all to do with how popular it is with the Pentax voters, the quicker it gets to a certain percentage the faster the acceptance. As for submitting the same picture in a different orientation I did that with a water drop but all I did was change the colour of the water .. did it in Yellow, green and blue .. all 3 got accepted.

I decided it was a bit unfair and deleted 2 of them from the gallery

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Mike - yeah maybe I will submit the horizontal one and if it gets in I will delete the vertical one. Since I only have a measly 8 entries I can't be deleting them willy nilly like you multiple-dozen guys can

Congratulations! I agree with you on the science museum one, looks better rotated (and you can submit it bigger that way round!). I would give it a try, if only just for fun.
The aircraft engine and cottage shots are great, the car is all right. I get this a lot with car shots, I do like them when I take them and when I look at them at home they don't give me much. It is a competent shot of a nice car, all right, but somehow it's lacking something for my taste.

I had little success the last weeks, images lingering for weeks and then they are declined.
Must try harder...

Love the first three B&W shots, really crisp with an excellent feel to thems but unfortunately the colour ones don't work for me, too fussy, but hay ho that's only my opinion.

Thanks Prieni, any words from a 100+ PPG man are much appreciated You should put your link in your sig, so us mere mortals can occasionally drop in and appreciate your photos. Seriously, they are fantastic!

I know what you mean about the car. The original colour version was (rightly) rejected back in the summer, it's only the last couple of months since I've been getting hooked on B&W that I revisited some of my older shots and resubmitted them. I think the B&W conversion is good (excuse my big head) but the shot is missing some oomph. A scantily-clad lady lying across the bonnet perhaps

Noddy thanks for the kind words. The stack of coloured cardboard is very much a matter of taste. At first I didn't like it but it has definitely grown on me. My wife thinks it's a pointless photo of a pointless object

Alig thanks. That photo was originally entitled No. 144, but I later went with The Cottage instead

I'm in the camp of those who like the cottage.

I also feel that your B&W conversions are extremely competently done. They must look lovely printed on good paper.

100? ruddy hell, that's impressive .. I don't think I have submitted anywhere near that amount.

Thanks George! I wish I could say I had huge prints of my finest work all over my house, but I don't. The only display medium in my house is the AppleTV screensaver playing on my 28" TV which cycles through my photos (to be fair the screensaver is on most of the day). I haven't had a photo printed in years

Actually I was just joking. Ralf has some huge number in the PPG, but I don't think it's quite 100 ... he posted here when he hit 50 a few months ago.

Nor me. But I would if I had some really nice B&Ws.
