Have been taking the 10-17mm fisheye out a lot more since the large thread about it and the fact it has sorely been neglected ever since I purchased it from Loskeran.

I am really beginning to see no need for my Pentax 12-24mm.

Very very nice Mike, there is so much in your photos and I've no idea which one I like the most since they all have something.

Pretty cool. Inspires me to take out my second least used lens (10-17 too) and let it see some light. No. 3 is my favourite BTW.

That's a good set of fishy shots. Like the last four, if I had to pick a favourite it would be between 5 and 6.

What I thought when looking at the first two shots was why you didn't go down on your knees (or at least a bit of the normal eye height). It usually pays to try different angles and view points with this lens. This lens is asking for over-the-top (when taking the shot and when pp-ing).

I do like the colours in the first one!

Well thanks a bunch! That's another lens to add to the wish list. I'll never get to retire at this rate!

All great images, but 5 & 6 for me also.

Cheers

Thinking about it but I am on my fourth copy now (if you include the Samsung 12-24mm) .. I keep changing my mind but I don't think I could afford it again if I sold it.

Fishy shot from tonight.

Might I play devil's advocate here, for a moment?

This is a serious question, because I often find something incongruously appealing about fisheye shots, which historically I've never liked.

And I can't quite work out what it is.

Funky angles, bendy lines, but so what?

The ones I like best are the ones closest to rectilinear, but even so, the bendy ones do have a certain appeal that I can't quite put my finger on.

Can anyone articulate what I'm seeing? Is it just that it's an unfamiliar perspective, and therefore interesting? Or is there something more?

To me they have a sort of 3D look which I find quite appealing.

Is it like, the foreground is even more exaggeratedly so, and larger than life, whereas the background is even wider, even taller?

So more 'full on' somehow?

Extreme wide angles do this too, without bending straight lines, though, so, what is it with the bendy lines?

Is it 'hall of mirrors' style fascination, or is there something more?
