Photoshop Elements can. Much cheaper than Lightroom or full PS. Other paid for coverters such as Bibble can handle them.
Irfanview cans see K-5 Pef files but is not great for conversion work.
Not sure about Fast Stone. I think that can handle them.
Otherwise use DNG - unlike the monster files produced by the K20D DNGs from the K5 are of a similar size to Pefs.

Aperture can process the dng's right now and will probably add support for the k5 pef files by the end of this month...whenever the next software update gets released.... (usually see support for new cameras every three months hence the guess that it is due this month).
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

If you want to use a freeware studio then look no further than FastStone Image viewer.

I use it ato process PEF files from my K7 at work. It is pretty good for a freebie.

Aperture of course but for a quick conversion without opening up A3 then RAW PHOTO PROCESSOR is excellent ... and free. Not sure if this has a PC incarnation (I use it on a Mac).

It's not something that I can say "IT MUST BE FREE!", but I've been using UFRaw for a long time and recommending it and now, suddenly, development stops.
Great way to push people away, guys, whether you have time or not. There's a bunch of important cameras just come out, the 60D, D7000 and the K5 and you need to support them....
Anyway. I think I will run a Ubuntu virtual machine and get the CVS; either that or I will try and get a decent discount on Lightroom and then PS, which I've successfully avoided for a very long time.

K5 DNGs are not properly processed by UFRAW; there is a small band of pinkish pixels at the right hand side (in landscape mode).just use dng

Do you have a link? Did not see it on the home page.
I'm currently using darktable (under linux) next to UFRAW. I don't know if darktable supports batch conversion (haven't found it yet), so this means I must now check out if DCRAW can do the trick for raw batch conversion.

Sorry, I didn't describe that correctly.
It hasn't stopped as such, but there's been no new release with several important cameras. G12, NEX, 60D...And now I'm seriously wondering - considering the number of requests on the board which remain unanswered or "use the CVS version", well, I'm drawing my own conclusions.
I wanted / needed batch, but since it didn't really work in 0.17, I've gone to RAW+ and that obviates the need.
Are you in a position to be able to compile a windows executable from the CVS repository sources?

OK, UFRaw 0.18 is out (was pushed out last week) and I figure that will support things. Installing it on another machine in about... ooh, three minutes
