The same happens with me on my GX10, I just bought a Giottos screen protector from warehouse Express, it does not stop the problem but you don't have to worry about how many times you clean it or scratching the screen its self.
Hope this helps.

Every time I take a snap using the eye viewer I leave a smudge over the viewer from my face. Is this just me? I remember reading somewhere of an add on to the eye piece that sits at an angle away from the viewer and, if I recollect corectly, also gives a 2x magnification as an aid to manual focusing for macro. Does anyone know of such and can point me in the right direction..Thanks..

Get yourself one of these, its an olympus eyecup and works a treat for keeping your nose off the LCD screen. It also covers the eye better than the Pentax eyecup.
It has a glass in it but not magnified.

The O-ME53 pentax version has a magnification of 1.2 and works well also but doesn't protrude as far as the olympus. I have both.

thanks for your suggestions. I have finally tracked down the version I had mentioned but am no wiser. It is a report in the Photoplus January 2008 issue (for Canon!!!) as a reader review. It is an unbranded unit costing £40 and called a right-angle viewfinder. This viewer turns through 360 degrees and is particularly useful for low levelshots and does have a 2x magnification. Unfortunately, there is no link to manufacturer. I can only hope that the reviewer named as Adrian Hewitt might just pop onto our Pentax site. Will source the Olympus eyecup in the meantime.

The Seagull (sometimes branded, often not) with the 2x magnification is the slightly older model, the version with the 2.5x magnification is its replacement. Both are still pretty widely available new though.
I've got the 2.5x model and it does just what it says on the tin! Handy for macro and general copy stand work but you wouldn't want it attached all the time like the eyecups.

you guys never fail me..thanks for that info. Presumably these are available in GB. I would intend to use this for macro and then leave the canon eye cup on for normal photos. regards Ron.

I am sure you will be able source it in the UK somewhere. Perhaps Hefty can help you out there
I have the older 2.0 magnification version, and it works fine.
And no problems with smearing the LCD screen unless your name is Pinochio

Clarky made a slight mistake with the model number of the Pentax eyecup. The correct number is O-ME53.
This is the cheapest supplier I can find via Google Products (taking postage into account):

They are available from the usual suspects like Speed Graphic (£78.25) and SRB-Griturn (£79.95), however, I bought mine from one of the Chinese sellers on eBay and paid less than 30 quid including p&p.Presumably these are available in GB.
I've bought several items from China/Hong Kong without any problems and postage is usually around 7 days from mainland China and 3-4 days from HK, quicker than some UK based suppliers!

interesstingly, have been on the Kauser site and they have these available but not, according to their site, a Pentax fit. will follow up your leads. My only problem with the Far East is that my experiences of E.Bay has left me out of pocket and now no account. I,m sure I will check out Chris at SRS. regards Ron (My nose must be in a funny placebecause it doesn,t cause the problem..its my rosy cheek that is the culprit)

I just looked at the Kauser site and I see what you mean about not mentioning Pentax by name, however, I just put that down to laziness/ignorance on their part. The Seagull comes with 5 slip-in plastic adaptors which between them cover most cameras made in the last 30 years or so - making it (almost) universal.
Kauser are just importers / distributers so they probably don't take as keen an interest in the product lines as the resellers / end users do. Judging by the average UK price they certainly take an interest in adding in their cut though!
If it were me I'd ask a friend who does have an eBay account to buy it for me...
