My, that's a big one...

When I lived in Hong Kong I remember seeing a huge lens for the 6x7 (might have been a mirror lens) that looked about the size of a dustbin.

good grief I have an astro telescope which is more compact than that! It would be neat for setting yourself up in a bird hide or something though.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

You would need 2 tripods to hold it
What would be the magnification on that thing :
Could you reverse mount it and use it as a macro

Rubbish, Pentax themselves make a tripod which would hold it easily

Of course you will have to talk to Pentax Surveying rather than Pentax Photographic......

Actually, the wooden tripod was supplied with the lens, all in a huge case.

Given that its a fully manual lens with what looks like a basic rack and pinion focusing system you would be better off throwing some money at a william optics APO telescope.

At least with them you have the dual speed micro focuser..

Either that or a celestron C5 sct which with a focal reducer fitted would give you 5" of light gathering at the front end, 1250 mm focal length @ f 6.3

that reminds me I really must try mine on some terrestrial targets.

if you could get it into orbit, you could use it to fry ants in your back yard....
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I have just had a look at the Ffordes site and they have just listed one for £1200. https://secure.ffordes.com/Shop/Store/Itemdet.asp?Type=secd&sub=1&Code=P...

They have also just listed a 20/2.8A at a very reasonable price if anyone is looking for one.
