A good deal?

I did some search yesterday - to look up a pentax macro - as asked for in my other thread...

Funny thing - I always find something interesting.

I found a ME Super - with a 50mm A 1:1.4 and SMC PENTAX-F ZOOM 1:4-5,6 70-210 mm

All - for £45.

It looks like a good steal - I believe the 50mm goes for around the same price on ebay these days? Not sure about the zoom or the camera?

I might be tempted to pick it up and sell some of my other 50mm lenses.

I got a 50mm A and M lens- both 1:2......Is the 1.4A a better choice?

The f2 lenses are "budget" ones, a very good design nonetheless but not as good as the f1.7 and f1.4 offerings.

I say go for it!

I recently sold an M50/1.4 (not as desirable as the A version) with a little fungus on it for £56, see: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320152788107

Based on this, and what I've noticed others fetching, I would imagine the A-50mm would double your £45 outlay on its own - good find!

Don't hesitate. As long as the lenses are in good condition, both are held in high regard.

For comparison, an FA 50mm 1:1.4 would cost you about £150 new. The F 70-210mm is a stonking lens and benefits from an ED element (not widely publicised).

You'll not be disappointed with either lens.

Thanks - I just phoned the seller - and arranged to pick it up tonight....I just hope it is with no fungus and that the zoom works fine.

I'm tempted to put it all on ebay - to get some more om my current £300 i got so far.

I will let you know if I made the deal

The F2 50mm lenses were the "budget" option. The 1.4 is a very nice lens. The 1.7's are perhaps slightly sharper and better for macro work due to the design but the 1.4's are much nicer for general work. The 70-210 lenses are certainly not the "best" Pentax ones and are on a par with the independant offering. The better Pentax zoom in that range was the FA 70-200. But heck! - at that price, it was effectively free as was the MES.

Kim

EDIT: Sorry, I was getting confused with the 70-200F The 70-210 is the better lens.

Good luck!

If you do end up putting it all on eBay then I would recommend splitting it into 3 auctions (one for each lens, one for the camera) as you will almost certainly get more money than if you sell all 3 items as one lot.

You'll soon have enough for the Pentax macro - you know that's what you want really!

Picked it all up last night. Both lenses in pretty good condition.

Haven't had time to play with it so far - just a few test shots....looked good.

The body came with a flash - have to part with both

But still it seems to be a very good price for both lenses.....

I sold one of those 70-210s a couple of years ago for £70. Note that was before the Pentax price explosion on Ebay, lord knows what they go for now. If it's in good nick then that's an excelent deal.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help
