Thanks Kris. The first shot comprised of two layers one with a faint sepia hue, beneath this the second layer in colour but with decreased saturation. A layer mask was added and the colour painted back in through the mask. Finally a dark burn around the outside to concentrate attention on the centre

Great set of pictures! My favourite is the Potatoes shot (and I would love to know what you did in pp).

Lidy, this was simpler. I exposed for the sky which was much brighter than the foreground (as usual) then, using Levels, adjusted the darker/underexposed areas. This had the effect of artificially boosting the colours. Then I selected the sign and lightened it using Curves. Great set of pictures! My favourite is the Potatoes shot (and I would love to know what you did in pp).
These sound like digital techniques but I remember doing lots of dodging and burning in darkrooms!

Oh, Potatoes for me without a doubt. Perhaps crop or clone out that red sign on the right edge. Would have been nice if the arrow pointed the other way too
