Thanks for all the information. I'm sure it will help me in any decision.

I guess I must be slipping as I never noticed that other thread while browsing the site. I must admit I just looked in the digital section not the others. My mistake. Looking over the other areas leads me too believe this will be a very helpful forum to frequent.

Thanks all,

Kevin

Do not underestimate the importance of having the buttons available.
I bought a PZ1p (insidentally from George....its still great) and after fiddling around for a while trying to remenmber where everything is, i feel i can not do without the buttons anymore. The easy of switching metering modes and AP/TV modes is so time saving that i now find it critical.
One thing that i found also very interesting about the D was that it was very easy to hold. I dont know if the grip on the DS/DS2 is the same but i tried the DL and couldent figure out why it was so annoying to hold. I looked closely at the D and DL then i saw the ergonomic grip on the D.
I would personaly say that the D is more robust because of the buttons and could possibly handle better. Also memory is cheaper so you could save money there.

Glad to hear the PZ1-P is still doing well. So is the 50 1.2 that you sold me! It's one of my favourite lenses.

You raise another point, and that is that the D uses the same wheel arrangement as the (P)Z1-P. Anyone who knows and likes that arrangement will feel immediately at home with the D. It's quite easily the most effective and simple interface of any camera. (IMHO, of course.)

I'd agree and I'm finding the layout of the DS fiddly by comparison, especially as in manual mode the default action of the control wheel is to change shutter speed and not aperture as I'd prefer.
