Sky high emphasis

One day without constant rain or threat thereof in the last week or so, and a couple of separate posts resulting. First up has the emphasis on the sky, which was by turn threatening and promising, over local moorland. Also only the second outing with my latest bargain buy, having part-exchanged my ageing 55-300mm DA ED for the latest PLM version through the Forum. Maybe not in the same league as the FA* 85mm, but I'm not complaining in the slightest. On K-70. All comments welcome.

I love seeing cloud photos and these are some really good shots

Quite often people process the skies a bit too much (I'm guilty of that on occasion) to make them more dramatic, but yours look far more natural and they compliment the muted tones of the landscape too.

I love the contrasts with the clouds... 1, 3 and 10 for me

Cloudscapes supported by land. Role reversal - brilliant! And even more remarkable because the clouds aren't the obviously impressive sort. But it works well.

I like 'em all, so why try to pick a favourite .

Number 10 grabs me, but I would be inclined to give it some more "oomph" with some dodging and burning.

Peter - I appreciate your comment. On my PC, number 10 looks to have plenty of "oomph", but viewed on my phone, not so much.

The photographs do provide a feeling of expansiveness that I love about open moor land, and I can see that it is the clouds that provide this sense.

Great idea to use more cloud and less terrain. This approach has definitely worked.

Thanks, Nigel. I do agree with what you say about expanse. When I’m walking on the moors, I often feel like a minute speck on the landscape and the views are almost too immense to photograph effectively. I was hoping the “big sky” approach would have a similar effect!

Agree. No.10 is the stand out image for me also
