I was at Mallory Park today for the PPC Magazine day. We were running the autotest and these guys turned up to have ago round the course

Nice shots, Simon. I saw one of these at the Cholmondeley Pageant last year... but persisted with trying to capture it at about 1/20. Unsurprisingly, this didn't work.

The guys that built it were still getting used to it, so were wearing boots out rather a lot! There are some foot rests but no one was brave enough to use them! Braking is the biggest problem since as soon as you put the brake on the whole thing just rotates forward. A great bit of engineering though - it even had GPS!

To be honest the pictures make it look a lot faster than it was, these were around a 1/60 I think. I did try lower, like Simon A., hoping for at least one 'keeper', but it was equally unsuccessful! Fastest car was doing the coarse in 18 sec, the fastest monowheel run was about 34 sec I think.

Speaking of strange contraptions how about a Simca powered Fiat 133?
