I really really like this shot for it's simplistic quality

but I find the DOF in the right hand corner of the shot irritating

maybe a better crop or retake with a bigger DOF

Yes, James has it. So nearly perfect but this needs 100% sharpness, the way you've set it up. Nice idea.

We used to have fights with these "darts" when I was a boy...

Dare I suggest a horizontal flip so the stalk is at the LHS.

What background did you use?

Nice colour but it does seem to lack the killer sharpness that you hope for as a viewer in shots like these. Nice composition too.
