Silver K3 still available
Personally I don't like the look of a silver one and I wonder now if it's a style preference that's widely not as popular, despite the limited edition marketing.
All sold out in Oz unless a dealer has one left on a shelf.
It basically came down to allocation numbers for different countries and OZ didn't get many.
It was at a rather low price over here so the cost factor didn't apply.
It does however get odd looks when I'm out using it. Everyone sees a gripped silver DSLR with a Minolta strap on it. Why change the strap? I often do if I'm not using a harness. The K5 has a D700 strap on it.
Confuses the hell out of some folks.
Best regards

I have a silver model and it just does look like plastic.
That's the impression I've got from modern silver cameras. For some reason real retro silver cameras don't give that impression

I nave a silver k-5 and i IMO it dos not look like plastic. It does not feel like plastic either. I've seen silver canon cameras and they did look like plastic, in fact they were...

However I assume that 1 day before I can actually place the order, they will sell out

I'm just lucky that way.

Hopefully it will be measured in weeks rather than months. I was gutted a short while back when the Ricoh site had an offer on that knocked about £250 off the price and I didn't have the funds

If I am to be totally honest I like the look of the silver camera (although I've only seen photos) but I'm not so sure about the silver grip

Ralph, if the price does not drop, you never know they might still be around when you can afford one. However, you may face the dilemma of a FF Pentax model by then too?
Regards Fletcher8
FF doesn't really bother me as I can achieve everything I want with my APSC.
FF will give better high ISO performance, YES but I'm still blown away by the images I get, in near darkness, from my K5iis.
FF will give narrower DoF, YES, but I haven't found an instance yet where I really need that.
FF will add that 'something' that's been missing from my images since I gave up 35mm, POSSIBLY, but I doubt it.
FF will require me to buy all new lenses, yes, and I can't justify that cost when I look at what I can produce with the kit I have.
I'm not saying that I will never have one (because secretly I know I will eventually

For me a K5iis, 12-24, 16-50, 50-135 and 60-250 provide almost all the things I need to produce the images and videos I want. I say almost because I would like a longer reach. Either a Sigma 50-500 or the fabled, and preferable for the WR aspect, Pentax 1.4 TC may be on the horizon.
....oh, and, of course that silver K3

I certainly wouldn't want to run 2 systems and I want a backup camera that will use the same lenses etc.
Even taking into account any trade-in 2nd hand value of my current kit, I just couldn't justify that for the minimal IQ differences that it would afford

Going back to the FF point, I just created a virtual shopping basket at Wex with all the Nikon FX kit required to replace my current Pentax setup. I stopped adding when the basket went over £2500

It's a fact of life that we all differ in our opinions of which we are fully entitled to.

In a few years I may well be extolling the virtues of FF and telling everyone how I can't live without it. At the moment though, the Bank Manager (SWMBO) won't let me

Anyone not convinced by Full Frame yet check these by a chap I know ....

I can see why Gary has gone Full Frame.
I've a feeling "when" Pentax release a FF camera I'm going to be wanting one.

Back at the dawn of time I think this thread was about the K-3 Silver edition?

I am surprised to see that these are still available on the Ricoh website and the 'limited stock warnings' have one disappeared.
In a worldwide market I really would have thought that the 2000 limited editions would have gone by now.
Does this mean that sales aren't as good as expected or is the 'limited' tag not quite as 'limited' as they suggest?
Answers on a postcard........
