The first one. It's interesting how the image loses its immediacy as soon as other elements are introduced. ..... colour, another person and the boats.

I like these, definitely works in b&w. Number 2 for me, has a nice balance to it with more of the clouds visible.

I'd go for number one, the silhouetted figure creates a point of interest that draws you into the image.

I love the muted pastel colours in the last shot but compositionally I think the earlier ones work best.

I prefer the muted colour versions with the family group rather than solitary figure...which looks a bit lost.

Yes, the isolated figure in 1, 2 and 5 for me too. Questions raised, no answers given. For me, 3 and 4 aren't quite up there with them, I find the blue in the sky a distraction.

I should of added a back story to the images when I posted it but it was late and I was lacking energy!
I saw this person when I was on the pier, snapped a few images off and thought how lonely they looked. I then walked back along the pavilion towards my car and them and shot a few more off as I did. I was observing the person wondering what was going on in their head and should I approach and then the other gentleman turned up with their child and they played at the waters edge so I quite happily got back in my car which was a joy as the backpack is heavy and the coffee in the car was still warm!

I have looked at these for a couple of days as they set a little conundrum to me. Similar images as in the same subject with different perspectives. Another look this morning and number 5 give me the best balance and harmony. Interesting exercise. Thanks for posting.

Your comments, cardiffgareth, regarding how lonely the person looked resonated with me. I immediately thought the same when I saw these. As I have said before elsewhere when looking at such images, 'so many stories...' They're all great but No. 1 particularly appeals.
