Never be afraid to post images on here. When I look at the early cringe-worthy images I posted (and some later ) I've almost always had helpful comments on how the image could be improved. It's difficult being one's own critic.
Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. Had an eye screen test on Monday and things are improving slowly.
To the website designers: I still think there could be more contrast between the font and background.

*Waves from behind the tree* I will make an attempt to post an image or two. Like others, I guess there's that fear of it being perceived as rubbish.... but then I guess you just don't improve

Folks here are always willing to offer some constructive criticism. The worst that happens is no one says anything!

Whitstable bay sunset. My attempt at some PP. I'm yet to learn anything so just a bit of cropping and playing with sliders to see what happens. Tricky to find that balance so that it doesn't look to processed.

Do you shoot jpeg or raw? Raw will give you more leeway in adjusting levels and extracting the most detail. I like the first shot as it is. There's a potential for some dramatic skies in the other two, particularly no. 3. Black and white conversions may help in that respect.

You might also try starting your own thread in "Your Photos Forum" then peoples comments on your images won't get lost in amongst other things

Originals are in raw, these were converted to jpegs a few months ago.

No, I think they have to be jpeg and the forum re-sizes them to a max size of 800px. So I wonders if the re-sizing was slowing your uploading

I always make my own resized versions to upload, I think the quality comes out a bit better.

Okay, you've shamed me into it: I'm a lurker. In fact I joined last May but haven't made a single post. My only excuse is that I'm quite active on the US site (as Dartmoor Dave) and was content to just be an observer over here. Here's a couple of recent shots to get started with.
