One of the delights of central Europe is the proliferation of trader's and artisan's signs hanging outside their premises. The selection here was photographed in Austria.

Good lord, even the McDonald's sign is (quite) tasteful!
SteveH!

Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.

Love these, they make an interesting feature of a walk round the streets of somewhere new and help to keep the photographic creativity in working order.

Its a beautiful looking town, and signs like that make a great subject .... (I need to get back into the City of London one day soon!). There's the technical challenge that comes from shooting upwards towards the bright sky, and the need to keep that under control without underexposing the signs, but that all has been well handled here.

I know that when McDonalds opened their branch in Getreidegasse in Salzburg they were severely constrained in what they were allowed in the way of signage. The golden arches had to be a very small part of the whole.
Great pictures of the central European version of street furniture.

Sign of the times

Chester has some nice signs. I spent a couple of hours in the olde filme dayes photographing them with a Spotmatic and Tri-X
