sigma having a laugh

hi guys can any one tell me if they have had to send a pentax body to sigma for calibration, as sigma still have my 150-500mm apo dg hsm and are now requesting my body, i feel they are taking the pi** now as this lens is cr*p on both my bodys, and all my other lenses are spot on,
also once again expecting me to cover the cost of postage again,
oh you and they say it wont take long (yeah right)

Perhaps you should commission Nathan to negotiate for you He seems to have the ability to persuade companies they want to help him.

I agree with you it's silly. If they need the body then the lens is faulty. Try telling them you are about to trade up to a K7 so will it need calibration again at their expense? How could you sell the lens if its dedicated to your body?

hi mike, like you said what if i get a k7 or a gx30, it was ou on both my k20 and k200d,and certainly dont want them mucking it up for all my other lenses that are all dead sharp, i have had the lens sent back twice now, and if covered the cost the first time to send it to srs, srs covered it this time (great service from srs) as they didn't have to, and now sigma expect me to send my camera of to calibrate it to that, what happens when i stick it on another body, also another cost to me adding up to £50 in postage, not including (srs) postage costs, that they have cover,

I have read on quite a few occasions of Sigma wanting the body to calibrate the lens (other forums, other camera makes) although they usually ask for both at the same time.

hi mike,well they have my lens already, but the certainly wont be getting any of my camera bodys, as i believe if they cant get a lens to focus correctly then what are they playing at, also the condition my lens come back to me from sigma in the first place, there is no way im sending my k20d or k200d,

Actually I don't think it's unreasonable given it's the second time you've sent it back. If they have your body they can match the focus to the body. It's quite possible the lens is "in spec" but it's at the other end of the spec to your camera body, effectively doubling the error. If you do send the body , enclose a note that all your other lenses match this body and can the adjust the lens (not the body!) to match the camera. It should be a fairly fast turnaround.

Well I saw the pictures of the state the lens was returned in and I'd be reluctant to let them touch my camera. I do take your point though that it's possible the lens is within tolerance as is the body but put them together and it doesn't work.

If they had any sense they'd shut Scott up by sending him another lens with the proviso that's the end of the matter. Or invite him to visit them and sort the problem out which would probably be very good PR as he would see the quality of their premises and staff.

Well if they've damaged the lens that's a different story. I'd speak to the customer service manager before sending anything else and ask how he's going to resolve this!

well the way i look at it is i have adjusted the k20 from -10 all the way up in steaps of 1 up to +10 with no difference both the sigma 170-500mm i have had and have are perfect as are all my other lenses on both my k20 and k200d, if the lens is that fare out its not with in a tolerance, more than -10 or +10 is well out, and all the time im sending thing to sigma its costing me £25 a time, the camera has nothing to do with it every lens i have put on the k20 and k200 have been great there is no way both my camreas are out and there is no way all my lenses are way out to match both cameras,

mark how is this not unreasonable for me to send them my camera, if my tv becomes faulty i dont send my blu ray player, hd dvd player and playstation 3 and sky hd for them to recalobrate my tv, if my camera come back broke whos to blame,

and also as stated i also wanna be able to stick the lens on my k200d or new camera if i get one with out having to send them both back to get recalobrated everytime,

I think there must be some breakdown in communication here - how much is in writing? I'd have thought with a K20 you should be able to adjust it work just fine. If they say the lens is OK then why don't they swap it out and then resell the one you had? I know it's not quite that simple but you seem to have a strong case, I'm just wondering if you've pput it to them in a way that lets them help? Writing a simple, clear and well thought out letter to the service manager and copied to the sales manager may just tip the balance.

hi mike, i have said all this to sigma but there being stubborn, and i thought cameras being brought out with the auto focus adjustment was suppose to solve this problem. i dont want nothing more than what i have paid for and i dont deem having a replacement lens to much,

Have you put it in writing in a clear concise and bullet point type of way so even a marketing manager cam follow the problem?
