Help please, i attached this lens today on the K5 after not using it for about a week, this is the display that came up, i haven't knocked it or dropped it, shutter won't fire or anything, it's almost as if i've attached a manual lens, thanks in advance if anybody can help

I experienced a similar problem with mine. I found that cleaning the contacts every so often normally resolved the problem. A lint free cloth is the best thing to use. Also, switching the camera off, taking the lens off and refitting it had the desired effect. Not terribly convenient, though!!

If there's an aperture ring, also double check it is still set to "A".
Best regards, John

I've had the same experience. Partially undoing the lens, then clicking it home positively has fixed the problem.

Had this happen with a number of my lenses now. Quick clean of the terminals and all is good. Its no big deal.
