I have the 70-200mm Mk II on Canon and it's a fantastic lens (front focuses a little but that's correctable). If the IQ is better on this lens, I'd be very tempted to buy a copy for my K-7.

My only concern with Sigma is how good the HSM is. I have read a couple of reviews suggesting it is not good on Pentax and packs up even faster than Pentax lenses allegedly do.
If I didn't now have a collection of Pentax lenses I would go for the Sigma EX range, as I actually prefer the IQ of them. The OS is supposed to be better than the in camera system too.
A pity they didn't make it a 50-200 to match up with their 17-50 2.8 EX though.

I just looked at the Sigma site and according to that this new lens isn't an EX, only an OS.

That's the wrong lens Gwyn, you're looking at the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 while the lens we're talking about is the 70-200mm f/2.8 constant aperture. The new lens is definitely an EX lens. Though having used countless Sigma lenses, IMHO the EX designation means very little.
The 70-200mm is FX compatible, they do have a 50-150mm that's APS-C only and I hope this gets released with OS some point down the line.

You are right PG, my apologies. Brain isn't working well at the moment as I have yet another cold
Sigma are announcing a lot of new OS lenses at the PMA, including the Bigma.
I like the EX lenses - I think they have a better IQ than other Sigmas personally.

If it is as sharp as the Mk1 70-200mm then I would be interested.
