I am no expert on mirror lenses but presuming that it is an mf lens you have done really well

The boat shots really are good - it looks like you have a bargain there

I will be in Burry Port near Llanelli at the end of the month do you know of any photo worthy events in the area around that times guys ??

Hi Stuey, there will be some great opportunities as Burry Port is a large estuary so should be plenty of birdies, also you are right on the north edge of the Gower Peninsula, spectacular scenery.

And so you should. I almost felt I was being derogatory saying it was soft, but it's not an insult at all .

There's too much emphasis on photography being ultra sharp these days. The vibe is more important IMO. Your shots have that vibe!!!

The last one is great. I imagine there has to be a fair number of dud shots when hand holding something like this. Get the subject, distance and conditions right and you could come back witrh shots which others couldn't contemplate.
Best wishes,

Andrew

The pictures get better as you go along. It seems to prove my theory that if you specialise in something in photography, such as action shots or using an extra long lens, you just get better at it with practice. Keep this up and you'll soon have some absolute stunners.
I like the donut effect you get with backlit mirror lens pictures.

Cheers Guys, I've gone all flushed. That is high praise indeed from some of my illustrious peers, I cannot thank you enough.
Another shot from tonight... a herring gull atop a lamp post. At this range it really is spectacular.
I have adjusted the sharpness and added a little NR in LR3 as I'm using a K-7 at ISO 800, but apart from that it is unmolested. An amazing lack of CA too!

And I love the catch in focus function, it enabled me to get a lot more shots than I originally thought I would get. Simply set to AF.S, hold the shutter button down then slowly focus the lens and try to keep up. Worked a treat
I found that too, with my 500mm Tamron - allowed me to get some pretty good action shots with approaching vehicles.

The sigma 600mm is so rare now, you can never get hold of one

Hi newkx,
I have the ebay app on my iphone and have a short list of wanted items that
I search for on a daily basis. One of the searches was pentax 600mm, when this one came up at £110 BIN, and for a change I had the money, I had to have it.

Nice shots. Is it a M42 mount lens using an adapter?

Hi mark,
Thanks for the comment and in answer to your question it is the K mount version, Just tried it with a Kenko 2x TC and even though a seagull sat on a roof over the road filled the frame there was absolutely no definition in the feathers so that's a no go.

Sorry to keep banging on about this lens but I managed to get a moon shot the other day and had to put it up.... Very pleased.
