I can vouch for what Mike says about the Sigma 70-300. I had one myself and although it was an OK lens the difference in quality to the Pentax 55-300 is huge. The Pentax may cos a bit more but it is well worth it. Don't fall into the same trap as me and buy the first thing my pot of money would cover as it will prove to be wasted money, wait and buy the right lens first time and the 55-300 is awesome for the money.
Ditto....I also had the sigma 70-300mm - ok, but now I have the Pentax 55-300mm and the Pentax is a class above!

Michael

Don't know anything about the Sigma 18mm f2.8 but with regards to the 70-300mm ... buy the Pentax 55-300mm. Much better lens.
Thanks mike but can not aford the 55-300.
have seen lots of SMC 28=80/90 and 35-80 plus 70-210 for sale are any worth buying.
Cheers

What about the DAL version of the 55-300mm? It's quite a bit cheaper.
Dave
Dave, my DA L 55-300 cost me £160 from ebay, brand spanking new. Had been split from a dual lens kit so no original box, but at the time there were many available. Fabulous lens, unreal value for money at what I paid. My son has the DG APO version of the Sigma 70-300mm and the Pentax blows it away for image quality at all focal lengths.

Cheers Dave

LCE have a used dal version for 150
Cheers Mike
Having read a lot of reviews, they all say good lens but slow focus.
i will be using it for motorcycle racing so would need to use in manual mode so might look for older tele lens as i have never used a zoom.
I have used a Minolta TLR ON THE i-o-m very interesting camera to pan.
Thanks All
Cheers

I have been looking at some lenses on e-bay, a sigma 18mm f2.8 ultra and wonded if any body has used one,
Also the 70-300f4-5.6 dgos, one for sale "as to fit SA/KPR" on the rear lens cap the seller is pretty sure it is a K mount is this correct, also is the sigma a better lens than the Tamron 70=300. One last point can you buy k mounts for the Tamron to fit the k-r as there is a shed load of the lenses for n/c/sony etc and few for the pentax.
THANKS
Dave
