An F version exists at a constant aperture of f4. One for sale here but looks a bit on the high side to me.

I think sigma did a 24-60 (might have been 24-50) F2.8 as well as the 24-70 2.8 which is quite a bit bigger and heavier.

The 24-60 will appear 2nd hand sometimes although not very often.

Whilst it is not quite as wide, the Sigma Epsilon 28-70 f3.5-4.5 is AF, and quick as well.

I picked one up for £15 early last year and it lived on my K-r until I got the Pentax F35-70 (sharper) and the Cosina 28-210 (longer telephoto range but not quite as sharp).

I may have a good copy of the 'Epsilon' as some people don't rate it as highly but I've never had any problems with it and am more than satisfied with its performance (which I rate higher than the DAL 18-55).

It all depends on what you want to do with it and how deep your pockest are ! All 3 of the lenses I've mentioned are quick AF which I'm finding more and more important as the years take their effect on my eyes !

Good hunting

As well as the 24-70mm F2.8 there is also a Sigma 24-70 F3.5-5.6 auto focus lens.

I got one attached to a *ist film body on ebay, I've only ever used it once and found it to be very ordinary, results weren't nearly as nice as the Pentax F 24-50mm F4 lens produces.
