About the only criticism I can level at the 150-500mm is that it struggles to AF at the longer end, on my K-m and Dad's K7. It may be better with newer bodies, but on these two it can't usually lock on. It focuses easily enough manually and I'm hoping this is just due to lack of light/contrast for the camera AF chip to work on.

Check the price now though Peter. Its gone up by an even more significant amount
Yes it has Alan, suffice it to say that I bought mine believing the price would go up from what I paid. When it went down by about £50 I was not best pleased.

I will add that the supplier offered to refund me the difference, which I declined, and I'll be more than happy to buy from them again because to me, after sales service counts for much more than buying at rock bottom prices.

All in all, as long as the lens is as good as I believe it to be, I'll be a happy bunny.

If you don't need the range above 300mm you better sell the 150-500mm. I use the lens without tripod or monopod without any problems and can walk around for hours while I have the lens mounted but I can imagine a lot of users would run into problems when using this lens.

I would not want to miss the range above 300mm and would not sell the 150-500mm any time soon but when you don't use the range above 300mm a lot the 150-500mm is plain overkill. I think you would be better suited with the 55-300mm, better having a lens that you can use without too much problems than a lens that would end up being used less and less because it's too heavy.
