Hi I'm a new member here and my reason for joining was to ask about the following kit I have been offered it consists of
Pentax ist D body,
Pentax Battery Grip D-BG1,
Pentax AF-360-FGZ Flahgun,
Pentax smc FAJ 18mm-35mm f4.0-f5.6 Lens with PH-RBL67 Hood, Pentax smc-FA 28mm-80mm f3.5 lens.

I know it is one of Pentax early D-slr cameras but wonder if it is worth the 200 asking price?
Also wondering if anyone still uses one and what there honest opinion is of the particular model?
I hope there is someone out there who may be able to give me a honest and unbiased advice.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Phil

The *istD is the first of the Pentax DSLRs and it is very well thought of.

If all the items are in superb condition then 200 doesn't seem too bad to me. If they are not in top condition then the price should come down sharply to reflect that.

On the other hand, you could make an offer...
Best regards, John

Hello John
Thanks once again for replying to my ?
I was not to sure where it fitted in the Pentax line up.
I should of said in my post that all the items are in excellent condition, and having checked them out they all appear to be in working order.
kind regards
Phil

Well to put it into context I paid 80 for a used Pentax AF-360-FGZ on Ebay and from what I could see that was cheap.
The 2 lenses are prob worth around that again on Ebay so it seems a good deal to me as you would certainly get more than 40 for the body and grip were you to sell them.

200 for that little lot is the bargain of the century, as long as it's all in good order.

The *istD is a superb camera with some features missing from the later DSLR's. I still use mine and I know others here do too.

Go for it, especially if there's a return policy. If not, go for it anyway.

get it
quick
Pentax K7 and K5 and several black tubey things with magnifying glass in that twist around and move in and out - to be honest I am not sure exactly what I have. Will list the proper names one day..

Yes I bought it and also got a 50mm f1.7 Pentax K M lens thrown in with it from the seller.
Have to say I was impressed with the first shots I shot with it.
And so were my daughter and her partner.
So much that they have had it off me.
