Witty for #1, like the contrast & composition on Ground Floor and you did well to find something not dominated by shadow at Canal Wharf.

V nice set... "Ladies" and "ground floor" my faves, but all vwell observed... strong lines on the bridges too...

Dave, that would be giving away a trade secret!
In all seriousness I use a mix of tonemapping in Photomatix Pro4, then unsharp mask and add noise in PSE10.

Ahh, sorry I thought that they were photographs

It works really well but I would presume it needs using sparingly
