Why does SR need to be switched off when using a tripod? The instructions say it should be but I sometimes forget.

All manufacturers say the same and the feeling is that if there is no shake to correct it causes the syetem prioblems in that it's looking for shake.

It may also be that when on a tripod and maximum sharpness is needed, switching off SR locks the sensor into place. This might apply to macro work.

If you use a remote or the delay timer SR is switched off automatically. I always use a remote when using a tripod, so SR is always off for me.

True Gwyn, good point. I use the 2 second delay which also switches off SR.

Thanks for those replies. I do usually use a remote when using my tripod so all should be well.
